Because sometimes even that’s hard to come by

12 months of simplicity

  • [JANUARY] 100 things
  • [FEBRUARY] digital directory downsize
    • Organize, minimize, and back up my entire digital (computer) archive (music, images, documents, files, etc.)
  • [MARCH] five miles less
    • Drive/walk a bit slower than necessary; create space to actually notice the world around me as I pass through it
  • [APRIL] H2only
    • Drink only water; nothing else
  • [MAY] buy no-thing
    • Defy consumerism, save more, shop less (with the exception of household items – fuel, groceries, bills, etc. – and food)
  • [JUNE] walk to Holland
    • If it’s in Holland, I walk; use the car only when traveling out of town
  • [JULY] sanschedule
    • Live without a schedule; plan things as they happen/day of rather than planning ahead
  • [AUGUST] no pixels after nine
    • Turn of all pixilated screens at 9p and leave them off until the following morning
  • [SEPTEMBER] three sentences
    • Send all emails using three sentences or less (with the exception of weekly information emails for work)
  • [OCTOBER] threemail
    • Check and send email only three times a day (morning, afternoon, evening)
  • [NOVEMBER] inter-not
    • Post zero updates to twitter/facebook or any other online social network (with the exception of pre-set auto-updates from blogs, etc.)
  • [DECEMBER] minus one
    • identify (at least) one thing each day that I no longer need and give/throw it away
